At least twice a year, the Rutland Police Department teams up with Rutland Fire and provides our senior citizens with a pasta luncheon or barbecue.
Every October, Rutland Public Safety gets everyone together for a Public Safety Open House. We are usually joined by other public safety partners and showcase the services we provide to the community.
Rutland Public Safety teams up every Halloween to provide the community with a safe, family-friendly Halloween party that is hosted at the Fire Station.
Every year, Rutland Police officers participate in the Coffee with a Cop program, where you can join us at a local coffee shop, sip a coffee and talk about concerns within the community.
A few times each year, the Rutland Police Department gets to play against the staff and students at the Devereux School. In the past, we've played basketball, softball and volleyball.
The Rutland Police Department maintains excellent relationships with the local Boy and Girl Scout troops. Officers are often seen doing demonstrations at scout meetings, giving station tours and participating in Scouting events.
Each October, our officers are authorized to wear a pink Rutland PD patch for Breast Cancer Awareness month. The department sells the patches and donates the proceeds to a cancer-related charity.
Each November, officers from Rutland PD participate in No Shave November, when the officers are allowed to grow beards for the month in exchange for a donation to the Home Base organization, which supports veterans.
On occasion, and during some special events, Rutland PD will utilize a bicycle patrol. Bicycle patrol allows officers better opportunity to interact with the public and easier access through crowded areas.
Every December, we team up with Rutland Fire and the RRECC to help Santa deliver his presents to the children of Rutland.
